How we approach spice quality
Different markets and products need different proof. Tell us your requirements at the start, and we'll tell you plainly what we can provide for the lot you're considering.
Start with your specification
Share the grade, size, moisture, and other limits you work to.
Ask for a sample
Assess the product for your own use before you order.
Agree on testing
Tell us which tests your market requires, so we can discuss them before you order.
Check the origin
The product origin is confirmed in your quotation.
Which tests do spice buyers ask for?
It depends on the spice, your market, and how the product will be used. These are common starting points. Please check your own market's limits, because they aren't the same everywhere.
| Test area | Often relevant for | What to tell us |
|---|---|---|
| Physical quality | All spices | Your moisture, foreign matter, and size limits |
| Salmonella and other microbes | Spices used without further cooking | Your limits, and who handles any treatment |
| Lead and other heavy metals | Cinnamon, especially for the US market | The limit and test you need |
| Pesticide residues | Markets with strict residue limits | The rules you buy under |
| Flavor compounds | Volatile oil, piperine, or vanillin | Your minimum, and the test method |

Certificates
We list a certificate here only once we hold it. If your purchase depends on a specific certificate, please tell us at the start, so you don't lose time on an offer that can't meet your requirement.
